Splints & Occlusal Appliances

Splints and occlusal appliances are an important therapeutic and preventive tool in dental practice. Our laboratory fabricates Michigan splints, relaxation splints, SOVA splints, and sports mouthguards in various configurations. All splints are individually fitted on plaster or digital models — for perfect fit, optimal occlusion, and maximum wearing comfort. Materials are selected according to indication: hard-soft combinations for bruxism splints, shock-absorbing materials for sports applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Michigan splint and a relaxation splint?

The Michigan splint is a hard occlusal splint with precise occlusal contacts, particularly suitable for bruxism. The relaxation splint (often soft or hard-soft) aims more at muscle relaxation and is less precise in occlusion.

Can splints also be digitally fabricated based on an intraoral scan?

Yes, we fabricate splints based on STL files — milled from PMMA or thermoformed on 3D-printed models. This saves time and offers high reproducibility.

What is the delivery time for a bruxism splint?

Typically 3–5 working days after receipt of the impression or STL file.
